Figure Drawings

I'm posting something different today.  I have been practicing figure drawings for a while now with the intention of speeding up.  I always feel like I'm going too slow.  These are done with a timer, so I'm forced to keep up the pace.  Some of these are 6 minutes some are 11 minutes.  All the practice has been really helpful.

I hope you like them.

That's all for now.  Have a day. . .
 . . . of some sort.
Good. . . Bad . .  . Meh. . . .
Whatevs.  Just don't die.

The Girl Valhalla Sent Back

Sasha is one of my favorite characters to draw.  It's fun to experiment with different styles and designs.  Her age fluctuates alot each time I draw her.  Maybe it's because I haven't even decided how old she is yet.  Well, I'll figure her design out eventually.  Still one of my faves.  Also! I should use ink more often.  It's fun, and a challenge, since I don't use it often.

She carries her weapon, a cleaver, holstered in a book that she's ducktaped closed and slung over her shoulder on a thin bit of rope.  It was one of the gifts she got from Odin when she was sent back from Valhalla.  She says it's made from a spark stolen from the sword that Surtr the fire giant is forging to burn the world on Ragnarok.  Unlike Thor's hammer, which always returns when it's thrown, she looses it all the time.  But she can always find it again when it's needed.

When the only suspect who has the info the police need to intercept calamity winds up dead, one detective, who's seen some shit, says "I know someone who might be able to help".
No one else can see what she sees. So, when she's trying to get answers, it just looks like a 12 year old lunatic threatening a corpse.  Until the corpse answers.

Apocalypse girls WIP

Oh Hi!  So here's one thing I've been working on for a little while.  It's a work in progress, but I'm putting it up anyway, cuz I likes it.  The characters the Apocalypse Girls I've been drawing for a while now and they are pretty fun.  Here's some of the newest sketches.

Just so you know who I'm talking about.  These are the four sisters.  Conquest is the oldest, followed by War, Famine, and Death is the youngest of the four.

Here's a few sketches of War.  The one with all the sword swinging poses, I like.

And a few pages of expression practice.  I've said it before but these are always fun and challenging.  The death ones turned out well.

Anyway!  Here's the real thing that's been taking my time up recently. Again, still unfinished, but it's cool and I'm excited about it, so here ya go.

Sharks and Robots

Hi, Hello, Howdy, however you say it.  A couple thingys here for ya.  Been drawing Sharky a bit.  She's fun!  Not a big fan of schoolwork though. Adjusting to school on land.

Second bit of sketches are from the Gearheads.  Charlie being belligerent.  Yelling at people.  The usual.

Also, she's been through alot.  And its only made her stronger, and more determined.  I'll be turning the Gearheads into a web comic at some point.  Who knows when, but it's gonna happen!

Random Sketch Blast!

Alrighty then.  Here's a bunch of my drawings that have been lurking in the book waiting for me to scan and show.  These are mostly brainstorming and development stuff for my Gearheads.  Trying to figure out what I want the other members of the crew to look like.  ALL SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Their characters and stories are still in flux as I spend more time thinking about them, and also the world they live in.  I'm still developing the society and deciding what influences I want to draw from.  Figuring that out will play a part in the design of all this stuff.

\
These next ones are a bunch of practice on random faces and expressions.  I like experimenting with different styles.  It's a challenge and something I want to do more of.

Another page of Sharkgirl.  She really is fun and I need to cook up some more around her and animate her.  The other one is Bug making a stylish exit through the bottom door of an airship, whilst leaving a couple goodbye presents for those who can't fly.

These three are somewhat related.  They are mostly Sasha and Grimm, or various Norse Gods and Goddesses. Still experimenting with style on Sasha.  I'll probably be going a tad more realistic in the future with her.  Also, I think the smoking skull o' Grimmy would be pretty rad to put on a t-shirt.

Also, here's a cyborg demon.

Apocalypse Girls

So I drew this picture.

Like alot of my favorite things, it was just a random picture.  It started with the thought "what if the the four horsemen of the apocalypse were actually girls.  I liked the picture and the idea so much I kept drawing them.

Just like the Gearheads or Sasha and Grimm Isaac, the story and concept developed more and more as I spent time with these characters.  In this case, they are four sisters, the daughters of a king.  And the prophets and priests of our world are all looking through a window into theirs, catching a glimpse of the heroes that life there.  All of the kingdoms in that strange world are the roots of different mythologies in ours.  Odin and Thor are the royal family of the northern kingdom.  Zeus and Hera, are king and queen on their mountain by the sea.  And so on.  The laws of life and death and magic are different there as well.  That's why they were mistaken for gods.

Anyway, I liked them so much I'm developing them farther and will be animating something with them soon.

It's gonna be fun.  Here's some more of the brainstorming, trying to solidify their designs.

Ok. Bye.
